Is a Blackberry 8830 Verizon Work With U.S. Cellular or T-Mobile Networks?
My cousin has a Verizon Blackberry 8830 (silver) that he offered to give my mother or what I wanted it to us. I recently switched to T-Mobile and my mother uses U.S. Cellular. The works on this phone either or both of the network? I asked some friends to this question and have gotten conflicting answers. Some said no, because they are different networks and silver 8830's are made just for Verizon where the black 8830 is made for U.S. Cellular. Some said yes, because it is a "world phone" and designed to work with most CDMA and GSM networks. I was completely clueless when it comes to stuff it-Which answer is correct?
From a source in the U.S. Cellular .... talked only to someone about a similar question ... "U.S. Cellular is a SIM card - used only on GSM network. U.S. Cellular is not a GSM network. Verizon is the nearest U.S. Cellular program in terms of phone from one that did not work the other. Company policy is industry a company will not activate a phone designed for other companies. Many times because of the way the phone is programmed. Verizon is the nearest programs in U.S. Cellular, but the phone may not work. There was a phone from Verizon that are active in us by Cellular and worked fine, but it is at your own risk ... and it is not company policy. "What got all that programming is that Verizon is likely to work with U.S. Cellular, but getting it activated by U.S. Cellular may take some sweettalking. Good luck!
